What did I sew from Burdastyle 7/19?

Nothing just yet!

What did I trace from Burda 7/2019?

I had high hopes of sewing Burda 7/2019 #117 (halter neck top), however, it is languishing in my sewing room. Perhaps 2020 will be the year I sew it up.

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawing - Tropical vibes sewing patterns

The beach wraparound looks useful – a definite yes for me. The duster cardigan has potential though I have never tried anything like that except as a morning gown (that thing you wear over pjs). Not too keen on the faux wrap top mainly because you cant tuck it in neatly.

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawing - Pastels and pink in this style

We are seeing more shirring this summer – I wonder if they are reflecting a RTW trend? The dress could work in the right fabric and I do like that it has pockets. I am big fan of blue chambray look fabric and this tunic top hits the right note for me. The white trim is charming. The maxi dress with a bodice flounce gets my vote because…maxi dress. Need I say more :-).

Burdastyle 7/2019 Full Line Drawing - minimalist chic sewing patterns. Love the stripes

The tee with bow sleeve detail is cute – a nice twist on a classic.

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawing - these are some nice styles here

I like the simplicity in style of the middle top pattern with the cutaway shoulders. I’d love to make that in a silk. The pairing with wide leg culottes appeals to me.

The skirt kinda works in the straw colour here. I find this style more appealing in a solid than a print like the earlier picture. Raglan sleeve sheath dresses are always a good style.

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawing - The styling is on point though!

Yay for swimsuit patterns! The mens shirt pattern is Burda 7525 and is already available in a paper pattern. I sewed it for my husband in white cotton gauze.

BURDA 7525 Mens Shirt Sewing Pattern REVIEW

Yay for kids swimsuit sewing patterns. This would be a great little stash busting project. The scalloping on the shorts is cute but ultimately too time consuming to do for kids IMHO. My kids grow too fast!

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawing - Oh lala! Love the raglan sleeves on the black top!

That black top certainly is stunning! Love its retro Victorian chic vibe…this might a really fun project. The stripe dress is their vintage reprint from the 50s I think. I need to see this in other fabrics before I make my mind up – that fabric isn’t working for me.

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawings - Burda Plus Size sewing patterns

The blue tunic dress with the placket is lovely – hope Burda will do it in my size at some point in the future.

Burda 7/2019 Full Line Drawings - More Burda Plus Size Fashion

More shirring! Love the capri pants. They remind me of the Butterick B5895 Gertie pants that I have sewed twice before. These are better though because the zipper is already on the side seam.

The high waisted shorts may be interesting in linen.

I am definitely getting strong summer vibes from the styling of the photo shoots in the magazine. Given how the weather has been where I live I desperately need this issue to remind that it is in fact summer!

Do you like anything form this issue so far?

I made a slideshow on my Youtube channel.
