Updated 26/08/2020. Here is the preview of the what’s to come in the latest issue of Burda magazine! Sept 2020 looks very promising. Does Burda have new designers? Looks like it based on what I am seeing since the August 2020 issue. Like the August issue, I am liking what I see here.

I am chatting my way through the Burda September issue sharing my thoughts on what I like and dont like, what changes I’d make to patterns and of course – what I will be sewing. I have traced out 2 patterns already to sew up and on one of them I have a tip to save you time and tracing paper.

Burda 9/2020 #107 Dress – Time and paper saving tip. Please read if you plan on sewing this dress.

Faux wrap dress (Burda 9/2020 #107) has 2 skirt pattern pieces – the back and the front. They are the same – just that the front has an extension from the CF for the faux wrap. You do not need to trace out both pattern pieces (which are huge). Just trace out the front pattern piece, marking the CF line. For the skirt back, all you need to do is to fold down the CF line. The CF line is the same as the CB line. The back skirt is cut on the fold so you dont need to add seam allowances. You can see my actual pattern piece in the video where I show it. You can forward to the 27:35 minutes point in the video.

Here are the 2 patterns that I have traced out – Burda 9/20 #107 Dress and #114 Skirt. The dress will be in a Lady McElroy Challis (you can see it in the video above) which has an autumnal feel to it. The skirt is in a medium weight abstract print John Kaldor crepe fabric. There is a 3rd fabric I want to use that I picked up from France during our recent camping trip but have yet to decide between 2 patterns from this September issue. I will update as soon as the fabric has spoken.

That lettuce leaf finish on the hem band is interesting. Might have to try that soon.
If only I could get my hands on the fabric of these trousers!
I have my eye on this zip up jacket – much potential, I sense.
The ultimate equestrian style blazer – love the contrast black welt on the pocket flap.
You had me at navy and mustard. Oh Burda – you know me so well.
I think this will be a popular dress patterns. The fabric is also cute.
Fancy jumpsuit? – Yes please!
Loving the use of big bold floral print.
I cannot wait to see this magnificent coat! Beautiful colours and texture. Plus those buttons!
Not sure what I’d do with calf pockets? They seem impractical.

Has anything stood out for you?

Pin and Save for later.
