In this blog post, we’ll be exploring the much-anticipated Burda 8/2023 line drawings. Trust me when I say, this edition is an absolute treasure trove of inspiration and innovation. I’ve had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek, and let me tell you, it’s a collection that will set your sewing imagination on fire. So let’s take a look at what’s coming in August!
Burda 8/23 looks to have some timeless classic silhouettes that I think will stand the test of time. In particular, the hero pieces are practical garments that I can see appealing to a broad range of seamstresses.
Burda 8/23 Swoon! The designer piece is such a lovely classic dress. I love the square neckline paired with the flared skirt and the bishop sleeves.
Burda 8/23 Wow on the stripe play! I’m almost tempted to try the dress just to challenge myself.
Burda 8/23 The quilted jack is a useful pattern to have! The tunic – I’m not too sure about.
Burda 8/23 Both of these are quite versatile and I can see them doing well.
Burda 8/23 – The coastal marine look works well for an August issue. Love the bold stripes.
Burda 8/23 I quite like the stripe play on the half circle skirt.
Burda 8/23 – Some timeless classics here that are striking but also practical. The sleeveless trench will work for fall as a nice light layering piece for walks.

Burda 8/23 The trousers are quite perfect for the Soft Gamine in me. That simple ‘hem dart’ creates the tapering I favour in trousers.
Burda 8/23 The 2 piece is so cute! I love the line drawing of the dress but I wonder whether its meant to be fitted since it doesn’t quite look that way on the model.
Burda 8/23 – More street style mode and while the cargo pants look practical , I’d be checking the length as they look too long on the model here.
Burda 8/23 – I am not a fan of the colors for these plus what is happening with the pulling on the v neckline of the top?
Burda 8/23 – the dress has some lovely details and I am also getting an 80s vibe from it.
Burda 8/23 – The inclusion of these surprised me as August is still a warm/hot month in the European context so seeing obvious fall styles threw me – am I ready to think about fall sewing?
Burda 8/23 – The ribbing on the shirt sleeves is interesting but I do think a darker colour at the cuffs adds better contrast and interest than a lighter colour.
Burda 8/23 – The animal print reminds me of the 80s – do you think Burda are bringing 80s back ;-)?
