PatternEasy Wrap Dress Review

Pattern Description

Women’s casual summer wrap dress with wide tie belts. Feature deep side pockets.

Pattern Sizing

Their size range is 36 – 64. I sewed size size which is my corresponding size based on their sizing table. Please see my FAQ below for more info on the sizing.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow?

No, because the instructions are in Russian. I am used to making my own way with sewing patterns. I’d rate this an advanced pattern. The first time I sewed this, I struggled to get the pockets and the front tie belt right – involved a fair bit of unpicking. This time round was easy though and took me about 3 hours to complete it.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I love the deep v neck and the wide tie belts. The fitted waist paired with the wide a flare of the skirt is something that attracted me.

Fabric Used

I used a lightweight cotton lawn from the Lady McElroy range – Amerillis. Its 100% cotton and at 56″ wide you get a lot of fabric per meter. The pink and peppering of turquoise were a big factor drawing me to this fabric. The crispness of the fabric worked well with the structure of the wrap dress. I’d love to make a shirt with this fabric too – it’d be fab! It washed well and has held up well with subsequent washes.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made

I added more flare to the skirt by using the slash and spread on the front skirt pattern piece. I added 2″ at the hem which was a total of 4″ wider at hem.

Would you sew it again?

Given that this is the second time I have sewed it, YES!

Would you recommend it to others?

Yes! Despite the challenge of working without instructions, its fantastic style .

Conclusion

This isn’t an easy sewing pattern to use on the first go. This is mostly because the instructions are in Russian. Apart from that caveat I do highly recommend it! The dress has given me so much joy when I wear it – its light and airy. Sewing with Patterneasy can be challenging, however with patience, it is worth the effort of becoming familiar with PatternEasy sewing patterns.

PatternEasy Review – A Brief Intro

Patterneasy is a Russian sewing pattern company that sells digital sewing patterns (PDFs). They focus on fashion and catwalk patterns that are forward in line with the latest trends. They also have ‘modelling’ lessons where they show how to adapt sloper patterns to recreate high fashion looks.

Is PatternEasy safe to buy from?

I have been buying sewing patterns from PatternEasy for 4 years since I discovered them and I have always paid by Paypal which protects my information and purchases. I have never had a problem with using them. Since they accept Paypal anyone from anywhere in the world can buy the sewing patterns.

Do PatternEasy instructions come in English?

No. The instructions are in Russian. With the use of Google translate and a lot of patience you could sew up a garment using Patterneasy if you are a beginner. Intermediate and advanced sewers could manage without instruction.

Is the size true?

Yes! They offer a wide range of sizes based on height as well as bust, waist and hip measurements (all measurements are in cms). Since they are Russian they have minimal ease in their drafting making them truer to size than most sewing patterns. Their ready-made sewing patterns are available for 3 to 4 sizes in each size.
Eg, for size 44 there are patterns with heights of 158, 164, 170, and 176 cm. If your height is a little more or slightly less than one of the presented pattern heights within + – 3 cm, then this size will suit you. Eg, if your height is 160 cm, then you can order a pattern for height 158.

Can I print at print shop?

Yes. When you buy your pattern , it comes as a print at home PDF and a copy shop file (they call in plotter). The print at home is the same as any other PDF where you have a test square to check.
