Have you ever stumbled upon a designer whose creations have you so enthralled that you spend the next 2 hours devouring any and everything you can find about their collection?

So it was for me when I discovered Stella Jean the Haitian born Italian designer who, if you believe Forbes, is one of the top 10 to watch in fashion.

Inspired by Stella Jean - A post about how amazing the designer is.

Stella Jean’s thrilling fashion has to do with the wax prints and stripes mixed in a way that makes it look effortless. I went from awe to mild obsession in 5 minutes of browsing her collections.

Stella Jean - An Inspiring Icon

My reaction at the first sight of the bold colors on coats, dresses and skirts was like Eros pierced my heart. I love the mixing of prints and I enjoy every detail of her creations.

Her signature style for her fashion brand is that of cross cultural fusion reflecting her formative years as a Haitian Italian woman. Her collections are a journey through many continents. The cuts are 50’s style glamour, feminine, form-fitting and flattering.

She uses African wax prints with such confidence that pushes her personality into the designs.

What is fascinating about her is that with no training or initial illustrative ability, Stella Jean began designing and creating pieces by pinning fabric to a model (the drape method favoured by other designers such as Coco Chanel).

Stella Jean did not have formal design training but uses draping to produce her visions.

Have a look and let me know what you think.
